Mystery Box, cultural center

Introducing an extra spatial programme in this part of Madrid could be difficult. We struggle with a problem of shrinking, but underneath the new equipment needed lies the main priority.

The city center of Madrid is saturated. We don’t have space to create new architecture, however sometimes the opportunity hides behind the facades, in the interior spaces and patios which can be transformed to create new opportunities.

This fact is not new for us, being very typical of european old cities that were developed throught the years across the same space.

This atypical and residual spaces are the new opportunity, despite that we have to be careful designing a new building which is not interfered with the residents lifes, integrating the street life into the hidden spaces.
